Wildcats Split Matches in State Dual Tournament

1/25/17 - The Wildcat wrestling team won its first match in the OHSAA's Team Dual Tournament, but lost to host Oak Harbor in their second match to fall out of the tournament.  Woodmore scored four more points in the seven matches it won in its first match against Galion than Galion did in the other seven matches.  Woodmore scored all 39 of its team points in the first eight weight classes and Galion scored  35 points in the final five matches plus a forfeit.  Winning matches for the Wildcats was freshman Brett Sandwisch at 106 pounds by decision, freshman Chase Dickerson at 113 pounds by forfeit, junior Tyler Sandwisch at 120 pounds by pin, freshman Harley Harris at 126 pounds by forfeit, senior Conor Emch won by pin at 138 pounds, freshman Samuel Merritt won at 145 pounds by forfeit, and freshman Clay Rickard by pin at 160 pounds.  After its 39-35 win over Galion, the Wildcats met Oak Harbor for the right to advance to the regional semifinals next Wednesday.  The top-seeded Rockets won easily, 68-12, as Dickerson won by pin at 106 pounds and junior Peter Magsig won by pin at 182 pounds to account for the Wildcat points.
