Wildcats Finish Eighth in Ammons Klassic

12/10/16 - The varsity wrestling team competed in the Jeremy Ammons Kilted Klassic hosted by Highland School.  The Wildcats finished eighth in the 17-team field with 141 points.  Medina won the tournament, which featured teams from all three wrestling divisions in Ohio, with 337 points.  Senior Conor Emch won all three of his matches in the preliminary round by pin to move into the championship bracket where he lost to Max Joliff from Findlay, 11-6, in the semifinals.  Emch defeated Avery Flanagan from Olentangy, 5-4, in the third-place match.  Junior Tyler Sandwisch compiled a 3-2 record in the 113-pound weight class.  Sandwisch won his first two matches by pin before losing to Ben Rudadue from Marysville, 5-2.  Rubadua would go on to finish second.  Sandwisch won his next match by pin before losing the match for fifth-place to Brayden Potter from Medina.  Junior Peter Magsig placed ninth in the 195-pound weight class by winning his last two matches, one by pin and the other by decision.  He had lost his first two matches in the preliminary round.
