Two Wrestlers, Emch and Sandwisch, Earn District Ticket

Woodmore will have two wrestlers, sophomore Tyler Sandwisch and junior Conor Emch, wrestling in the Div. III district meet next week. Sandwisch, wrestling in the 106-pound weight class, came back from a 6-0 loss to Cameron Dickman from Oak Harbor in his first match of the day to pin his next two opponents to earn third-place (top four in each weight class advance to district meet). Sandwisch pinned Hunter Smith from Rossford, then in the third-place match he pinned Cameron Pollard from Otsego in 2:30. Emch, wrestling at 132 pounds, lost a 3-1 decision to Darry Endicott from Lakota in his first match of the day. He then defeated Gus Mancuso from Otsego, 10-6, to earn a spot in the third-place match. In that match, Emch lost a 10-4 decision to Andrew Muir from Genoa. Woodmore had three wrestlers in fifth-place matches. Junior Jacob Amstutz, at 113 pounds, won his first match of the day by pin, then lost to Jacob Hahn from Eastwood, 2-1, to fall down to the fifth-place match. In that match, he defeated Johnny Guyton from Lake, 13-7. At 126 pounds, sophomore Robert Berry pinned his first opponent of the day then was pinned by Colton Fugate from Rossford. In his fifth-place match, he pinned Logan Bloom from Lakota. At 182 pounds, sophomore Peter Magsig won his first match of the day by decision then lost by pin to get a spot in the fifth-place match. In that match, Magsig lost by pin to Collin Kitchen from Otsego. The fifth-place finishers will serve as alternates for the district meet. The district meet will be at Toledo Waite High School and be contested on Feb. 26-27. The Wildcats finished 10th in the 14-team sectional tournament with 53.5 points, which was hosted by Lake High School.
