Sandwisch Falls One Win short of State

3/4/17 - Junior Tyler Sandwisch, wrestling in the 113-pound weight class, fell one win short of qualifying for the state meet finishing sixth in the Div. III district meet at Waite High School.  Sandwisch started the second day of the meet needing three wins to earn a state ticket.  He won his fist two matches - by major decision (12-0) over Darion Tracy from Ayersville, and by pin in 1:56 over Randall Mills from Antwerp.  That set up him match to move into the third place match, thus qualifying for state, against Jordan Bowers from Tinora.  Sandwisch lost by major decision (13-0) to fall into the match for fifth place.  In that match he met Wil Roth from Sandusky St. Mary Central Catholic, the same wrester he met in the opening match of the tournament and lost a 6-0 decision.  In the fifth-place match, Sandwisch lost by pin in 4:18 to place sixth in the meet.  Sandwisch finished the season with a 40-16 record.  Woodmore had 11 points as team in the district meet to place 29th out of 49 schools.
