Day Two - Thunderbird Invite

1/28/17 - The Wildcats had one wrestler place in the Thunderbird Invitational hosted by Lima Central Catholic.  Freshman Brett Sandwisch placed fourth at 106 pounds.  Sandwisch won twice by pin and twice by decision to come back through the bottom of the bracket and get to the match for third place against Zach Schaller from Swanton.  Schaller, the #7 seed, pinned Sandwisch, who was not seeded in the weight class, in 1:32.  At 113 pounds, junior Tyler Sandwisch lost his first match of the day by pin to fall out of the tournament at 120 pounds, junior Robert Berry lost by pin in his first match to finish his tournament.  At 132 pounds, senior Conor Emch lost his first match of the day, 20-5, to the #3 seeded wrestler, Alex Rhine from Mechanicsburg.  Emch, the #6 seed in the weight class, came back to win his next match by pin, but then lost a 6-1 decision to Richie Stalnaker from Newark Catholic, the #3 seed.  The Wildcats finished the tournament with 33 points, good for 27th place.  There were 39 teams in the tournament.
