All Wildcat Wrestlers Alive After First Day of Sectional

The varsity wrestling team has all seven of its wrestlers still alive after the first day of of the Div. III sectional tournament at Lake high School. Two wrestlers won their only match to advance to the semifinals of the winners bracket. Sophomore Tyler Sandwisch, wrestling at 106 pounds, won his only match of the night by pin and will face Cameron Dickman from Oak Harbor in the semifinal tomorrow. Junior Conor Emch, wrestling at 132 pounds, won his only match by technical fall (17-0) and will face Darry Endicott from Lakota in the semifinal match tomorrow. Each of the other wrestlers lost their only match. Junior Jacob Amstutz, at 113 pounds, lost his only match by decision and will wrestle Ian Kress form Otsego in his first match Saturday. Senior Devyn Riley, at 120 pounds, lost his match by technical fall, and will face Jacob Stewart from Genoa in his frst match tomorrow. Sophomore Robert Berry, wrestling at 126 pounds, lost by technical fall and faces Dustin Carter from Toledo Christian in his next bout. Sophomore Hunter Kelly, at 138 pounds, lost by pin and will face Justin Cole from Lake to stay alive in the tournament. Sophomore Peter Magsig, at 182 pounds, lost by pin and faces Thomas Nowak from Danbury. And, sophomore Josh Parlette, at 285 pounds, was pinned in his only match and faces Trent Hovis from Gibsonburg. The Wildcats are in 10th place after the first day as a team with 15.5 points.
