Wildcats Drop League Road Game

The Wildcats led 5-3 after the top of the fifth inning on the road in Northern Buckeye Conference play, but Elmwood tied it in the bottom of the frame and scored three times in the sixth inning to get the win.  Sophomore Macie Wellons had a double and two RBI while freshman Brooke Allen had one hit and an RBI.  Senior Mackenzie Nighswander and junior Katelynn Marshall had the other Woodmore hits, both singles.  Sophomore Sydni Buhrow went the distance on the mound for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats, who had not had a hit in the first six innings, scored eight runs on five hits in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out the Northern Buckeye Conference game.  Sophomore Grace McCarthy pitched the complete game for the Wildcats and had one of the five hits in the seventh inning.  The big blows in the seventh inning were off the bat of sophomore Libby Almroth who hit a two-run home run in her first at-bat in the final inning and she came back later in the same frame to single in the 11th run of the game for Woodmore to tie the contest.  Sophomore Autumn Foos then singled in the game-winning run with two strikes on her and two outs.  Sophomore Jenna Haar had the other Wildcat hit in the seventh inning.
