Woodmore Takes Top Spot at St. Wendelin

4/15/17 - The track and field team took first place at the St. Wendelin Invitational with 121 points. Upper Sandusky was the second place school with 106 points.  There were 14 schools at the invitational.  The Wildcats had four individual winners.  Junior Emily Wegert took the 100 with a time of 13.42 while senior Liz Koenig was the winner in the high jump clearing 5-0.  Junior Annalicia Torres won the shot put with a best of 38-11 and freshman Claire Rothert took the 100 hurdle event with a time of 16.89.  The Wildcats had several second-place finishers.  Wegert was second in the 200 (28.05), senior Lily Rothert took the runner-up spot in the 1600 (5:41.42), C. Rothert was second in the 300 hurdles (51.30), Koenig was the runner-up in the long jump (15-4), and Torres was second in the discus (115-11).  Third-place finishers included L. Rothert in the 800 (2:34.33) and senior Samantha Sedlmeier in the 3200 (13:00.61).  Other Woodmore athletes who placed (top eight earn team points) included senior Camryn Bench in the 100 (5th, 13.91) and 200 (5th, 28.72), senior Kate Barbee in the 1600 (7th, 6:08.20) and 3200 (6th, 13:46.81), and Koenig in the 100 hurdles (4th, 17.57).  Three relay teams placed.   The 400 foursome of Bench, senior Amber Zarella, C. Rothert, and Wegert finished fifth in a time of 55.04.  The 800 quartet of Bench, Zarella, C. Rothert, and Wegert was fourth in a time of 1:56.55.  And, the 1600 relay team of L. Rothert, Koenig, Zarella, and Sedlmeier were seventh in 4:42.89.
