Wildcats Seventh in Div. III Regional Meet; Five More Earn Ticket to State Meet

5/26/17 - The Wildcat track and field team finished seventh in the Div. III regional meet held in Tiffin and had five more qualifiers for the state meet next weekend in Columbus.  The Wildcats finished the regional meet with 30 points.  Pettisville and Achbold took the team title with 53 points each followed by Huron (44 pts.), Columbus Grove (36), and Holgate and Arlington (32).   The 800 relay team of senior Camryn Bench, senior Lily Rothert, freshman Claire Rothert, and junior Emily Wegert placed fourth (the top four in each event in the regional meet earn a ticket to the state meet) running a time of 1:47.48.  In addition. senior Liz Koenig will be competing in the state meet next week after placing fourth in the long jump.  Her best was 16-8, just three-and-a-half inches off the winning distance.  Claire Rothert will be competing in a second event at the state meet after placing third in the 300 hurdles in the regional meet with a time of 47.04.  Also competing on the final day of the regional meet were athletes in four other events.  Lily Rothert was nipped at the finish line for fourth-place in the 800 finishing fifth in a time of 2:21.30.  The fourth-place finisher was timed in 2:21.24.  Junior Annalicia Torres, who had qualified for the state meet on the first day of the regional in the shot put, finished seventh in the discus with a best of 118-9.  Senior Samantha Sedlmeier qualified in the 1600 and 3200.  She was 14th in the 1600 in a time of 5:48.97 and she was 15th in the 3200 running 13:01.53.  Senior Kate Barbee also qualified in the 3200 and finished 16th in a time of 13:38.37.
