Two Wildcats Place on First Day of Regional Meet

The varsity track and field team had two placers on the first day of the OHSAA Div. III regional meet held at Frost Kalnow Stadium in Tiffin. The 3200 relay team of junior Jesse Wegert, sophomore Samantha Sedlmeier, sophomore Amber Zarella, and junior Courtney Burner finished eighth in a time of 10:34.60 to earn one team point (top eight in each event score team points - top four in each event final advance to the state meet next weekend). Freshman Carly Rothert cleared 5-1 to place sixth in the high jump to earn three team points. Sophomore Liz Koenig also competed in the high jump and cleared 4-10 to place 10th. The 400 relay team of senior Sarah Blausey, Wegert, sophomore Camryn Bench, and Zarella did not earn a trip to the final in the event on Friday by placing 13th running a time of 54.49. Also competing on the first day was freshman Annalicia Torres in the shot put where she finished 11th with a best of 33-6.
