Wildcats Move on to Districts With Home Win

10/22/16 - The Woodmore girls soccer team improved to 15-1-1 with a 6-0 win over Cardinal Stritch at Wildcat Stadium in the Div. III sectional final.  The Wildcats scored twice in the first half - senior Lily Rothert notched the first of her three goals on the day with 11:06 left, and freshman Claire Rothert netted a goal with 15 seconds left after a pass from sophomore Paige Schmeltz.  Junior Hayley Freund got the Wildcats started in the second half scoring with 29:18 left in the game off a pass from Lily Rothert and Lily Rothert scored at 19:15 to make it 4-0.  Sophomore Nora LaMunyon drew an assist on the Rothert goal.  LaMunyon then scored with 15:04 left and Lily Rothert scored her third with 9:20 left.  Woodmore had 28 shot in the game.  Sophomore Katelyn Aliemenious started in goal for the Wildcats and had one save.  Freshman Phoebe Jackson also played in goal and did not have to make a save.  The Wildcats advance to the Div. III district semifinal on Wednesday (Oct. 26) against the winner of the Swanton-Huron game.  The district tournament will be played at Genoa High School.  Woodmore's district semifinal is the second of the night on Oct. 26 and is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
