Wildcats Earn Spot in District for Fourth Straight Year

The girls varsity soccer team (16-1-1) earned a spot in the Div. III district tournament for the fourth successive season after earning a 4-0 decision over Delta at home in the sectional final. The Wildcats scored a pair of goals in each half to earn the win. Sophomore Breanna Coffman, off an assist from junior Lily Rothert, opened the scoring with 35:29 left in the first half before Rothert found the back of the net with 29:00 left to make it 2-0. Senior Jessie Wegert assisted on the Rothert goal. Less than three minutes into the second half, Coffman scored her second of the game, with junior Camryn Bench assisting, and sophomore Hayley Freund completed the scoring with 22:08 left with senior Tessa Linke getting the assist. Woodmore had a 19-1 advantage in shots in the game and sophomore goalkeeper Alex Moreno made one save. Woodmore will play Archbold at 7 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 28) at Genoa High School in the district semifinal game. The district final game will be played Saturday (Oct. 31) at 2 p.m. at Genoa High School. The Wildcats take a 13-game winning streak into the district tournament.
