Nine Earn All-League Honors

11/6/18 - The Wildcat girls soccer team had nine players earn a spot on the Northern Buckeye Conference all-league teams recently selected by the league coaches.  Four players earned first team honors - sophomore Sidney Gillig at defender, senior Nora LaMunyon at midfield, junior Claire Rothert at forward, and junior Phoebe Jackson at goalkeeper.  Gillig had one assist on the season while anchoring the defense that had five shutouts and five other games in which only one goal was allowed.  LaMunyon had four goals and six assists for the season.  Rothert, a second-team all-league pick last year, had 25 goals, the second-highest one-season total in school history, and six assist this season.  Rothert has 58 career goals, second on the Wildcat ladder.  Jackson, a first team all-league selection last season, had 166 saves to push her career total to 401, second in school history.  Her five shutouts this season give her 23 for her career, the school record, and her 34 career wins is second in school history, two off the leader, Leah Bench (2009-12), who had 36.  Earning second team honors was senior Katie Brugger at defender, junior midfielder Maddion Strickland, and sohomore forward Autumn Beaudoin.  Brugger had one goal and one assist this season and was a second team all-league pick last season.  Strickland had two goals on the season.  Beaudoin led the team with 21 assists while also adding 15 goals.  Beaudoin's 21 assists this season set a school mark with six of those coming in the game this season against Otsegho at home to also establish a school record.  She was an honorable mention all-league pick last season.  Earning honorable mention all-league honors was junior defender Jordan Nighswander and senior forward Paige Schmeltz.

Successful Season Closes on District Loss

10/27/18 - The girls soccer team saw its season come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Northern Buckeye Conference foe Eastwood in the Div. III district final at Genoa High School.  Eastwood, the #1 seed in the district, scored with just over nine minutes left in the first half and again just under 10 minutes into the second half.  Junior Phoebe Jackson had 13 save in goal.  The Wildcats, the #4 seed in the district, finished the season with an 11-7-1 record and were winners of 10 of their last 13 games.

Shutout Win Moves Wildcats Into District Final Saturday

10/24/18 - The girls soccer team got all three goals from junior Claire Rothert and junior goalkeeper Phoebe Jackson recorded 10 saves to earn the shutout as the Wildcats posted a 3-0 win over Huron in the Div. III district semifinal game at Genoa High School.  Rothert notched her first goal just eight minutes into the contest and the two teams played to a 1-0 lead at the break for the Wildcats.  Rothert made it 2-0 just over one minute into the second half and finished her night with a goal with just under six minutes remaining.  Senior Nora LaMunyon earned an assist and sophomore Autumn Beaudoin had one assist.  The Wildcats earned one of the spots in the district final Saturday back at Genoa High School against Eastwood, the district top seed, at 3 p.m.  Woodmore is the #4 seed in the district.

Woodmore Moves on to District Semifinal

10/20/18 - The girls soccer team earned a 2-1 win over Genoa at Genoa High School in the Div. III sectional game to advance to next week's district semifinal back at Genoa.  The Wildcats scored twice in the first half, both goals by sophomore Autumn Beaudoin.  Her first score came with 26:49 left from a severe angle to the right of the goalkeeper.  Her second score came on a penalty kick with 1:47 left after junior Claire Rothert was taken down in the box.  Genoa's only goal came with 27:55 left in the game on a header from right in front of junior goalkeeper Phoebe Jackson.  Jackson made 19 saves in the game.  The Wildcats will play the winner of the Huron-Toledo Christian game on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. back at Genoa High School.

Woodmore Hosts Otsego

10/11/18 - Woodmore 14, Otsego 0.  Woodmore goal scorers: Claire Rothert 3, Nora LaMunyon 3, Maddion Strickland 2, Marinda Rotruck, Olivia Heidebrink, Sidney Wank, Katelyn Aliemenious, Autumn Beaudoin, Jayne Coressel.

Girls Earn Non-League Home Victory

10/8/18 - The Wildcats earned a 3-1 win at home over Van Buren in a non-league contest.  Junior Claire Rothert opened the scoring with 32:26 left in the first half on a goal that was assisted by sophomore Autumn Beaudoin.  With 25:01 left in the game, Beaudoin found the back of the net from Rothert.  After Van Buren pulled to within 2-1 on a goal with 23:05 left in the game, Rothert scored her second of the contest with 32.9 seconds left to ice the win.  Senior Nora LaMunyon assisted on the second Rothert goal.  Woodmore had 19 shots and junior goalkeeper Phoebe Jackson had nine saves.

Wildcats Will Be On The Road to Start State Tournament

10/8/18 - The girls soccer team will be on the road to start the Div. III state tournament.  Woodmore will make the short trip to Genoa on Oct. 20 for a 2 p.m. game against the Comets.  The winner of the Woodmore-Genoa game will advance to the district semifinal on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. against the winner of the Huron-Toledo Christian game.  Tickets for the sectional/district games are $6 for adults and $4 for students and are available at the door the day of the game.

Wildcats Stumble at Eastwood

10/4/18 - The girls soccer team fell behind 3-0 after the first half of their game at Eastwood and trailed 4-0 at one point in the second half before tallying twice in losing a 4-2 Northern Buckeye Conference decision.  Woodmore goals were by sophomore Autumn Beaudoin and junior Claire Rothert.  Beaudoin, who assisted on Rothert's goal, scored with 21 minutes left and Rothert three minutes later.  Junior Phoebe Jackson had 13 saves in goal.

Wildcats Go On The Road For Third Straight Win

9/29/18 - The Woodmore girls soccer team made is three straight wins with a 4-2 victory at Genoa in a Northern Buckeye Conference battle.  Junior Claire Rothert had a pair of goals and an assist while sophomore Autumn Beaudoin had one goal and three assists.  Freshman Sidney Wank scored the other Wildcat goal.  Junior Phoebe Jackson had 18 saves in goal.

Girls Win Sixth of the Season

9/27/18 - The Woodmore girls soccer team won its second straight game by shutout - this time winning 4-0 at home over Northern Buckeye Conference foe Lake.  The Wildcats (6-5-1, 4-3-0 NBC) scored three times in the final 13 minutes of the first half.  Junior Claire Rothert got the scoring started with 13:03 left in the first 40 minutes.  Sophomore Autumn Beaudoin then scored with 5:49 left and freshman Sidney Wank scored with two seconds left from Rothert to make it 3-0 at the break.  Wank had the only second-half goal, her second of the game, with 16:40 left to make it the final score.  Junior Phoebe Jackson had 10 saves in goal as Woodmore had 10 shots.  Woodmore has now won five of its last six games.
