The varsity football team (3-6, 2-4 NBC) racked up over 500 yards of total offense but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats lost a 62-39 decision on the road to Rossford in a Northern Buckeye Conference game. Rossford broke out on top scoring the first 13 points of the game before the Wildcats rebounded to tie the game on two long pass plays to match the way the home team had scored. WHS scored 1:28 apart on a 46-yard pass from senior quarterback Connor Bringman to Dustin Haar and a 65-yard halfback pass between junior DJ Wellons and junior JT Atkin. Rossford would then string three touchdowns together before halftime to take a 35-13 lead. Rossford scored first in the second half to extend their lead to 42-13, before the Wildcats mounted a rally. Woodmore scored twice before the third quarter had expired to close within 41-26. Junior Mason Beachler scored on a one-yard run and Bringman hooked up with Atkin on a pass play. Woodmore got as close as they would get at 47-33 with 7:34 left in the game as Bringman connected with Wellons on a 63-yard pass/run, before Rossford scored twice in a three-minute span to put the game away. Woodmore did score in the last minute on a nine-yard pass play from Bringman to junior Derek Wank. Eight of the 15 touchdowns in the game covered 40 yards or more. Bringman completed 34-of-55 passes for 438 yards and four scores as the Wildcats passed for 503 of their 528 total yards. Rossford had 606 yards of total offense in the game, including a 449-25 edge on the ground. Atkin caught 14 passes for 195 yards and two scores while Wellons had five receptions for 101 yards. Junior Conner Haas had five receptions for 78 yards and senior Dustin Haar had three receptions for 70 yards. The 34 completions by Bringman eclipses the school record of 30 set in 2011 by Jon Sandwisch while Atkins' 14 receptions ties the school record.
