10/27/17 - The Woodmore football team (2-8, 1-6 NBC) ended the season on a positive note with a 31-22 win over Elmwood at Wildcat Stadium in a game that was played in a steady rain throughout.  Elmwood scored first in the opening quarter on a long run before Woodmore countered with a touchdown by junior Taityn Rollins on a 71-yard kickoff return.  Both teams converted two-point runs after the touchdowns and the teams were tied at 8-all after one quarter.  Woodmore would do all the scoring in the second quarter as senior Derrick Berkel scored on a 43-yard pass play from senior quarterback Donovan Reyes to give the Wildcats a 14-8 lead.  Woodmore added a one-yard run from freshman Aaron Sandrock, who also added the two-point run, and WHS had a 22-8 advantage.  Then as the clock ran out in the first half, senior Cole Cutchall converted a 24-yard field goal and Woodmore led 25-8 at the break.  Elmwood had two long runs for touchdowns in the third quarter sandwiched around a Sandrock 19-yard run to complete the scoring.  Neither team scored in the fourth quarter although after the score was 31-22, Elmwood moved the ball to the Woodmore four-yard line with about four minutes to play where they turned the ball over on downs and Woodmore ran the clock out.  Elmwood had a 248-192 edge in total offense and Woodmore had a 12-11 edge in first downs.  All of Elmwood's yards were on the ground by Levi Garner who ran 38 times for 250 yards. Reyes was 4-for-6 passing before leaving the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury which required him to be taken to the hospital.  Senior Zack Matwiejczyk carried the offensive load on the ground for the Wildcats rushing 28 times for 98 yards.  Woodmore ran 49 plays in the game, Elmwood 47.
