Wildcats End Season on Positive Note With Fourth Win

The varsity football team (4-6, 3-4 NBC) ended the 2015 campaign on a very positive note winning their fourth game of the season, a 35-8 victory at home over Northern Buckeye Conference foe Fostoria. After the two teams played a scoreless first quarter and most of the second, the teams combined to score 23 points in the final 1:54 of the second stanza. The Wildcats broke on top with pass completion which was lateralled to another player and he ran in for the score. The original pass was a completion of 22 yards from senior quarterback Connor Bringman to junior Conner Haas. As Haas was being tackled he lateralled to sophomore JT Atkin who ran the last 37 yards untouched for the touchdown with 1:54 left in the half. After Fostoria scored its lone touchdown of the game on a 45-yard pass play, Woodmore responded to take the halftime lead on a Bringman to Atkin 16-yard pass play. Woodmore led 15-8 at halftime. The two teams played a scoreless third quarter before the Wildcats erupted for three touchdowns in the final quarter. Junior DJ Wellons ran 37 yards for a score at the 10:39 mark. Bringman and Atkin hooked up again on a 39-yard pass play with 8:09 remaining and sophomore Donovan Reyes tossed a 10-yard scoring pass to junior Teri Tummel with 55 seconds left to complete the win. Woodmore had a 406-289 edge in total offense and a 17-13 edge in first downs. Both teams had 206 yards passing, but the Wildcats rushed for a season-high 200 yards while limiting Fostoria to 83 yards. Bringman completed 21-of-30 passes for 187 yards and two scores whle rushing for 89 yards on 12 carries. Atkin carried three times for 94 yards and caught 10 passes for 91 yards.
