Wildcats Drop Season Opener at Home

8/25/17 - The Woodmore football team had their game at home against Northwood tied at 7 in the second quarter before the visitors ran off the final 27 points of the game.  Northwood broke on top with its first play from scrimmage running 65 yards for a touchdown after the opening kickoff.  Woodmore scored its only points in the second quarter on a 35-yard pass from senior quarterback Donovan Reyes to freshman Aaron Sandrock to even the score.  The touchdown drive was set up after an interception by junior Taityn Rollins which  gave the ball to the Wildcats at the Northwood 35-yard line.  Northwood took the lead for good just before halftime on a three-yard run.  Northwood scored twice in the third quarter, both scores coming on nine yard runs.  And, Northwood capped the scoring on a 15-yard run in the final stanza.  Northwood outgained the Wildcats, 356-206, with all but eight yards of Northwood's total coming on the ground.  They ran the ball 43 times for 348 yards.  Woodmore had 148 yards passing and 58 rushing.  Reyes was 9-of-22 for 138 yards with senior Derrick Berkel catching five passes for 87 yards.  Sandrock's only reception of the game was for the touchdown.  Sophomore Dylan LaFountain ran the ball 12 times for 17 yards for the Wildcats.  Woodmore ran 58 plays to 47 for Northwood.
