Wildcats Fall at Fostoria

9/20/18 - Fostoria 38, Woodmore 0 - The Wildcats managed less than 80 yards total offense and Fostoria scored 22 points in the first quarter to take a 22-0 lead.  Fostoria added touchdowns in the second and third quarters.  All five scores for the Redmen came on running plays.  Fostoria had a 360 to 77 edge in total offense with a 234 to 68 edge on the ground.  Fostoria ran 51 plays to 37 for Woodmore.  Junior Dylan LaFountain led the Wildcats with 23 yards rushing on 15 carries.  Woodmore completed one pass in the five attempts for nine yards.  Fostoria had 19 first downs to five for Woodmore.  Both teams lost two fumbles in the game.

Wildcats Lose First League Game of Season

9/14/18 - Rossford 42, at Woodmore 13 - After the two teams traded touchdowns over most of the first half, Rossford scored the final touchdown of the first half to take a 21-13 edge to the locker room.  The Bulldogs then put the game away by scoring 21 unanswered points in the third quarter to take a commanding 42-13 lead.  Rossford run just two more plays than the Wildcats, 60-58, but outgained Woodmore, 458-316.  Rossford had a 266-26 edge in passing yards.  Woodmore had a 290-192 edge in rushing yards.  Junior Dylan LaFountain rushed 10 times for 133 yards while sophomore quarterback Aaron Sandrock rushed 15 times for 94 yards.  LaFountain ran 65 yards early in the first quarter for a touchdown and Sandrock ran five yards for a score midway through the second stanza.  Woodmore committed the only turnover of the game, a fumble, while Rossford had a 21-12 edge in first downs.

Wildcats Come Up Short at Oak Harbor

9/7/18 - @Oak Harbor 48, Woodmore 10 - Oak Harbor scored on its first six possessions to lead 42-0 early in the second half.  After Oak Harbor then scored on a long interception return, Woodmore scored on a safety, when Oak Harbor snapped the ball over the quarterbacks head in a shotgun formation and the ball went out of the end zone, and on a 41-yard run by sophomore DJ Melter.  Melter converted the two-point attempt with a run.  Four of Oak Harbor's first six touchdowns came on running plays and two were passes.  Oak Harbor ran three more plays than Woodmore, 51-48, but outgained the Wildcats, 373-174.  Oak Harbor had 273 rushing yards to 134 for Woodmore.  Oak Harbor had 19 first downs to 12 for Woodmore.  Sophomore Aaron Sandrock was 4-of-8 passing for 40 yards while junior Dylan LaFountain rushed 14 times for 65 yards.  Woodmore was guilty of three turnovers while Oak Harbor did not commit a turnover.

Wildcats Drop Home Opener

8/31/18 - The Wildcat football team opened the home portion of its 2018 schedule against Gibsonburg and after trailing only 18-12 at halftime, lost a 38-12 decision.  The teams traded the first four touchdowns as Gibsonburg scored the only first-quarter points on a 16-yard pass play.  Woodmore responded with a the first of four touchdowns between the two teams in the quarter as sophomore quarterback Aaron Sandrock ran 61 yards to paydirt. The Golden Bears answered with a 40-yard pass play only to see Woodmore put a touchdown on the board on a four-yard pass from Sandrock to senior Taityn Rollins.  Gibsonburg ended the scoring in the second quarter and took the lead for good on a 37-yard run.  Neither team made an extra point, whether a kick or two-point attempt, in the first half.  The only third quarter score was a 77-yard run by Gibsonburg to give them a 24-12 lead.  Gibsonburg then scored twice late in the final stanza on 61-yard run and a 35-yard interception return.  Woodmore actually ran more plays than Gibsonburg, 51-49, but were outgained 380-223.  Gibsonburg rushed for 324 yards in the game and Woodmore 156.  Sandrock was 6-of-12 passing for 67 yards and one touchdown and he was also the leading rusher with 80 yards on six carries.  Junior Nate Fligor added 17 carries for 59 yards for the Wildcats.  Rollins had two catches for 35 yards.

8/25/18 - The junior varsity football game at Woodmore against Northwood was cancelled because of weather.

Wildcats Lose on the Road at Northwood

8/24/18 - at Northwood 49, Woodmore 7.  Northwood scored on its first three possessions to build a 21-0 first quarter lead on their way to the season opening win.  Northwood added three more touchdowns in the second quarter to lead 42-0 at halftime.  Northwood scored once in the third quarter and Woodmore scored its only points late in the final stanza on a five-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Aaron Sandrock to junior wide receiver Andrew Barringer.  Northwood ran only six more plays than Woodmore, 55-49, but outgained the Wildcats 504-160.  The big play was the key for Northwood as they scored on runs of 48 and 90 yards and they scored on pass plays of 83 and 41 yards.  Sandrock was 3-of-8 passing for 13 yards and junior Dylan LaFountain carried 16 times for 77 yards to lead the rushing attack.  Woodmore had 125 yards rushing to 270 for Northwood.  Northwood had a 15-9 edge in first downs.
