Four Players Earn All-League Honors

11/13/18 - Four Woodmore football players earned a spot on the Northern Buckeye Conference all-league football team recently selected by the league coaches.  All players earned honorable mention accolades.  Junior Seth Drossel earned a spot at linebacker.  Drossel led the team with 51 tackles (38 solo and 13 assists) while he also had one sack and five tackles for loss.  Sophomore DJ Melter was a league honoree in the secondary.  Melter was credited with 34 tackles (27 solos) and had one tackle for a loss.  Senior Taityn Rollins was the honorable mention specialist for his work as a kick returner and punter.  Rollins averaged almost 14 yards per kickoff return this season and he averaged slightly better than 32 yards per punt.  Sophomore Ethan McNair, who had 22 tackles this season, was also an honorable mention selection.

Wildcats Lose at Lake

10/19/18 - @Lake 42, Woodmore 7. Lake scored four first-quarter touchdowns and went on to earn the win.  Woodmore scored late in the game on a one-yard run by sophomore DJ Melter.  Melter had 19 rushes for 53 yards while junior Nate Fligor had 12 rushes for 53 yards.  Lake outgained the Wildcats, 362-207, with 307 of Lake's yards coming on the ground while Woodmore had 128 yards rushing.  Sophomore quarterback Evan Hensel was 5-for-5 throwing the ball for 79 yards with Melter his favorite target catching three for 44 yards.  Lake had 17 first downs to 15 for Woodmore, but the Wildcats had three turnovers in the contest.

Wildcats Drop Home League Game

10/12/18 - Eastwood 42, Woodmore 7.  Eastwood rushed for 477 yards and scored five unanswered touchdowns in defeating Woodmore.  Eastwood led 28-0 at halftime and scored the first touchdown of the second half to take a 35-0 lead.  Woodmore countered with its only score, a three-yard run by junior Nate Fligor before Eastwood scored late in the third quarter to complete the scoring.  Eastwood did not complete any of its three passes in the game.  Eastwood ran 47 plays to 41 for Woodmore and had a 477-198 edge in total yards.  Woodmore had 201 yards on the ground as sophomore DJ Melter ran the ball 18 ties for 165 yards and Fligor ran 11 times for 30 yards.  Woodmore completed one-of-two passes attempted.  Both teams lost one fumble in a game played almost entirely in a steady rain.  Eastwood had 16 first downs to five for Woodmore.

10/8/18 - The last two junior varsity football games of the season - Oct. 13 at Eastwood and Oct. 20 hosting Lake - have been cancelled.

Woodmore Loses at Home

10/4/18 - Genoa 49, @Woodmore 14.  Genoa scored six times in the first half to build a 42-0 lead then scored on an interception return on the first second-half Woodmore possession before Wildcats scored twice in the third quarter.  Genoa opened the scoring on a 37-yard pass play before scoring via the run the next five times.  Woodmore scored on a 34-yard pass play from sophomore Evan Hensel to senior Taityn Rollins and then later on a five-yard run by sophomore DJ Melter.  Junior Andrew Barringer added the extra point after each touchdown.  Genoa had a 309-133 edge in total yards and an 18-6 edge in first downs.  Woodmore gained 99 yards on the ground to 176 for the Comets.  Woodmore was guilty of four turnovers in the game.  Junior Nate Fligor rushed for 39 yards on 12 carries while Melter had 34 yards on 10 carries.  Hensel's lone completion on the night was the touchdown pass.

Wildcats Drop NBC Contest

9/25/18 - at Otsego 45, Woodmore 21 - The Wildcats scored three touchdowns, but Otsego built a 31-0 lead before WHS scored the first one.  Woodmore scored on a short pass play from sophomore quarterback Aaron Sandrock to senior Taityn Rollins that made the score 31-7 with 2:11 left in the first half.  Otsego would score twice before the end of the half to lead 45-7 at the break.  Woodmore made it 45-14 on a short run by Sandrock as the third quarter came to an end.  The Wildcats made it the final score with 5:08 left in the fourth quarter on a long running play by sophomore DJ Melter.  Otsego led 17-0 after one quarter of play.
