Girls Team and Nick Emerine Advance to Regional Meet

The Woodmore girls cross country team and senior Nick Emerine earned a ticket to the Div. III regional meet next week in Tiffin after qualifying in the district meet held at Amanns Reservoir in Galion. The top four teams in each division earn a spot in the regional and the Woodmore girls team, coming off the championship of the Northern Buckeye Conference, placed fourth with 93 points behind Tiffin Calvert (75), Hopewell-Loudon (79), and Seneca East (83). Senior Courtney Burner was third individually with a time of 20:00.56 over the 5K course. The winner, Trinity Fowler from Northwood, ran a time of 19:35.25. Junior Samantha Sedlmeier placed 10th in 21:03.34 and senior Jordan Grzegorczyk was 13th in a time of 21:15.75. Junior Amber Zarella was 38th in 23:18.61 and junior Noelle Freund was 48th in 23:42.66. Senior Jessica Sotak finished 56th in 24:03.27 and junior Kate Barbee was 59th in 24:18.46. On the boys side, Woodmore was 10th as a team with 232 points but will be represented by senior Nick Emerine in the regional meet after he placed fourth in the district meet with a time of 17:12.61. The next finisher for the Wildcats was sophomore Joey Emerine who placed 25th in a time of 18:16.77 while senior Grant Matwiejczyk was 49th in a time of 19:12.23. The remaining runners for the boys teams included: freshman Ethan Davis (72nd, 20:13.57), freshman Bryson Wargo (84th, 20:59.77), junior Ben Wilt (95th, 22:11.21), and junior Connor Davis (97th, 22:18.72).
