Girls 7th; Boys 15th in Opening Meet of the 2018 Season

8/18/18 - The boys and girls high school cross country teams participated in the OHSAA Early Season Invitational at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, the site of the state championship meet in early November.  The girls team placed seventh of 17 teams with 189 points.  Sophomore Ava Beam finished 11th running a time of 21:15.1.  There were 141 runners in the race.  Sophomore Olivia Thatcher ran 21:59.2 to place 17th, sophomore Greta Bauder was 35th in a time of 23:11.6, senior Maddie Thatcher was 68th running 24:48.9, freshman Sidney Wank placed 69th in a time of 24:58.4, and sophomore Julia Cable ran 35:05.3 to place 140th.  The boys team placed 15th of 20 team with 373 points.  Top finisher for the Wildcats was junior Paul Koenig who placed 19th in a time of 18:05.3.  Junior Pierce Overmyer placed 81st in a time of 20:34.8 and senior Jimmy Grzegorczyk was 91st in a time of 20:48.5.  Also running for the boys team was: junior Steven Carter (105th, 21:25.9), senior Ethan Davis (124th, 22:09.0), junior Cole Sotak (132nd, 22:27.8), and junior Chase Dickerson (140th, 22:59.4).  There were 170 runners in the boys race.  In another open race at the meet, sophomore Keegan Harrison placed 93rd in a 2.5-mile race with a time of 17:09.4, freshman Marty Repka was 121st in a time of 19:17.8, and freshman Mason Hablitzel placed 129th in a time of 20:25.9.
