Successful Season Comes to a Close at Regionals

10/28/17 - The cross country season came to a close as the Wildcats did not have a state qualifier from the Div. III regional meet at Hedges Boyer Park in Tiffin.  Woodmore had three runners in the race with the top eight teams and runners finishing in the top 32 advancing to the state meet.  Freshman Olivia Thatcher was the first Wildcat across the finish line in a time of 21:01.18 over the 5K course.  Freshman Ava Beam placed 65th in a time of 21:09.22 and sophomore Faith Morris ran a time of 21:11.32 which was good for a 69th-place finish.  There were 204 runners in the Div. III race.  Minster won the team title and Emma Watcke from Minster was the individual winner in a time of 19:00.10.

Three Girls Earn Trip to Regionals; Girls 5th, Boys 7th as a Team

10/21/17 - Three members of the girls cross country team earned a ticket to next week's Div. III regional meet in Tiffin at Hedges Boyer Park after finishing in the top 16 at the district meet at Amann Park in Galion.  The top four teams and any individual finishing in the top 16 and not on a qualifying team earned a spot in next week's regional meet.  The Wildcats finished fifth as team with 128 points.  Freshman Ava Beam finished eighth individually over the 5K course running 20:48.53.  Freshman Olivia Thatcher will join Beam in the regional meet after placing 10th in a time of 20:54.58 and sophomore Faith Morris will also be running at the regional meet after placing 12th in a time of 21:07.20.  Also running in the district meet was senior Mackenzie Nighswander, who placed 49th in a time of 24:05.73, and sophomore Caitlyn Hammer finished 62nd in a time of 25:32.16.  The boys team finished seventh in the district meet with 163 points led by senior Joey Emerine who placed 20th in a time of 18:15.63.  Junior Joey Grzegorczyk finished 29th in a time of 18:33.99, sophomore Pierce Overmyer was 36th in 18:52.13, junior Ethan Davis was 38th in 18:54.11, sophomore Cole Sotak placed 51st in 19:23.48, sophomore Steven Carter was 52nd in a time of 19:25.58, and sophomore Nicholas Reedy was 58th in 19:42.70.

Girls Third; Boys Fourth in League Meet

10/14/17 - The Woodmore girls cross country team put three runners in the top nine of the Northern Buckeye Conference Championships at Eastwood High School to finish third while the boys team finished fourth.  The girls had 75 team points to finish behind Eastwood (57) and Genoa (57).  Freshman Ava Beam was the individual runner-up running a time of 20:57.62 over the 5K course.  Lauren Welker from Eastwood won the race with a time of 20:35.42.  Freshman Olivia Thatcher finished eighth in a time of 21:33.08 and sophomore teammate Faith Morris was right behind in ninth-place in 21:54.42.  Senior Mackenzie Nighswander placed 21st by running 24:02.15, sophomore Caitlyn Hammer was 43rd in 26:16.61, and sophomore Madeline Shuler ran 27:06.32 to finish 48th.  There were a total of 70 runners in the race.  The boys team had 120 points to finish behind Eastwood (40), Otsego (43), and Genoa (90).  Senior Joey Emerine led the team with a 14th-place finish running 18:10.97 for the 5K course while sophomore Pierce Overmyer was 21st in a time of 18:27.10.  Junior Joey Grzegorczyk placed 24th in a time of 18:45.26, junior Ethan Davis was next in 25th place running 18:48.26, sophomore Steven Carter was timed in 19:31.55 to place 42nd, sophomore Cole Sotak placed 44th in a time of 19:39.61, sophomore Nicholas Reedy was 52nd in a time of 20:12.62, freshman Kayden Widman ran a time of 20:15.57 to place 55th, junior Bryson Wargo ran 22:25.30 to finish 78th, freshman Kegan Harrison was 82nd in 22:52.06, and senior Alexander Cutcher finished 96th in a time of 25:08.34.  There were 101 runners in the race.  The top 21 runners in both the boys and girls race earn all-conference honors.  Runners who finish among the top seven receive first-team accolades, placers 8th through 14th-place earn second team, and 15th-place through 21st place are honorable mention.  Four Wildcat girls earned all-league - Beam (first-team), Thatcher (second-team), Morris (second-team), and Nighswander (honorable mention).  Two boys were all-league - Emerine (second-team) and Overmyer (honorable mention).

Girls 3rd; Boys 7th at Fostoria; League Meet Next Week

10/7/17 - In the final meet before the Northern Buckeye Conference Championships next week at Eastwood, the Woodmore cross country teams competed in the Fostoria Booster Invitational. The girls team placed third, with 105 points, behind Hopewell-Loudon (48 pts.) and Liberty Center (59); while the boys team finished seventh with 215 points. Freshman Olivia Thatcher led the girls team with a fifth-place finish running 21:44.45.  Freshman Ava Beam placed 10th in a time of 22:23.68 and sophomore Faith Morris was not far behind in 15th-place running 22:45.94.  Senior Mackenzie Nighswander placed 39th in 25:06.14, sophomore Caitlyn Hammer was 68th in 27:44.74, and sophomore Madeline Shuler was 83rd in 28:59.28.  On the boys side, senior Joey Emerine ran 19:00.85 to place 20th while junior Ethan Davis was 39th in 19:47.87.  Sophomore Pierce Overmyer placed 55th in a time of 20:09.40 and sophomore Steven Carter  was not far behind in 57th-place running 20:11.75. Junior Jimmy Grzegorczyk was 65th in 20:22.06, sophomore Cole Sotak was 101st in 21:31.67, sophomore Nick Reedy finished 112th in 21:56.48, freshman Kayden Widman ran 21:59.21 to place 113th, and freshman Kegan Harrison was 174th in 26:16.23.

Girls 7th; Boys 12th at Old Fort Invitational

9/30/17 - The girls cross country team finished 7th in a field of 15 teams at the Old Fort Invitational with 182 points.  The boys were 12th with 347 points.  Freshman Ava Beam finished 11th running a time of 21:00.08 while freshman Olivia Thatcher finished 15th in 21:21.39.  Sophomore Faith Morris placed 21st in 21:52.19, senior Mackenzie Nighswander ran 24:12.38 to place 68th, sophomore Caitlyn Hammer finished 108th in a time of 26:41.82, and sophomore Madeline Shuler was 112th in 26:56.56.  For the boys, senior Joey Emerine placed 62nd in 19:03.85.  Junior Jimmy Grzegorczyk placed 74th in 19:15.05, junior Ethan Davis was 76th in 19:20.00, and sophomore Pierce Overmyer finished 79th in a time of 19:23.17.  Other Woodmore runners included: sophomore Steven Carter (107th, 19:53.60), sophomore Cole Sotak (112th, 20:06.28), sophomore Nick Reedy (119th, 20:22.25), freshman Kayden Widman (140th, 20:59.97), freshman Kegan Harrison (198th, 24:51.42), and senior Alexander Cutcher (201st, 25:44.35).

Boys 5th at Streak Invite; Girls Have Three in top 10

9/23/17 - The boys finished fifth with 132 points in the Streak Invitational while the girls had three runners finish in the top 10.  Senior Joey Emerine was the top finisher for the boys placing 15th in 18:35.98.  Junior Jimmy Grzegorczyk placed 24th in 19:19.28 and sophomore Pierce Overmyer was 31st in 19:37.29.  Other Woodmore runners included: junior Ethan Davis (34th, 19:43.88), sophomore Steven Carter (37th, 19:52.27), sophomore Cole Sotak (46th, 20:18.12), sophomore Nick Reedy (51st, 21:50.70), freshman Kayden Widman (59th, 21:35.12), freshman Kegan Harrison (88th, 24:53.39), and senior Alexander Cutcher (91st, 26:16.52). On the girls side, they did not have a enough runners for a team score but had three runners in the top 10 led by freshman Ava Beam who finished fourth in 20:49.76.  Junior Maddie Morris placed eighth in 21:24.43 and freshman Olivia Thatcher was 10th in 21:52.81.  Senior Jordan Nighswander placed 45th in a time of 24:54.95.

Girls Finish Second; Boys 8th in NBC Jamboree

9/19/17 - The girls team placed second in the NBC Jamboree hosted by Rossford and the boys were eighth.  The girls finished with 64 points, one more than Otsego.  The boys had 92 points.  Freshmen Olivia Thatcher and Ava Beam both finished in the top five in the race as Thatcher ran 21:38 to place third and Beam was timed in 21:41 to place fourth.  Sophomore Faith Morris was 10th in 22:52 and senior Mackenzie Nighswander placed 21st in 25:04.  Sophomore Madeline Shuler was 38th in 27:32 and sophomore Caitlyn Hammer was 43rd in 28:24.  Senior Joey Emerine led the boys placing 33rd in 19:50 while sophomore Pierce Overmyer was 36th in 19:58.  Junior Jimmy Grzegorczyk was 43rd in 20:11, sophomore Nick Reedy was 48th in 20:23, sophomore Cole Sotak ran 20:27 to place 50th, junior Ethan Davis placed 51st in 20:29, freshman Kegan Harrison ran 24:57 to place 76th, and senior Alexander Cutcher ran 26:03 to place 82nd.

Girls 3rd; Boys 5th at Lakota; Girls Finish 1-2 Individually

9/16/17 - The girls finished third and the boys team fifth in the Myron Cline Invitational hosted by Lakota.  The girls had three runners in the top 10 and finished with 88 points behind Hopewell-Loudon (52) and St. Mary Central Catholic (80).  The boys had 143 team points to finish behind Hopewell-Loudon (73), Lakota (76), St. Mary Central Catholic (83), and Old Fort (88).  Top finisher for the girls was freshman Olivia Thatcher who won the invitational running a time of 20:43.50 while freshman teammate Ava Beam was second in 20:57.36.  Sophomore Faith Morris placed 10th in 21:36.96.  Also running for Woodmore was senior Mackenzie Nighswander (42nd, 24:49.74), sophomore Caitlyn Hammer (54th, 26:10.09), and sophomore Madeline Shuler (75th, 28:47.66).  For the boys, senior Joey Emerine was the first Wildcat across the finish line with a time of 18:43.50 to place 20th while junior teammate Jimmy Grzegorczyk was right behind placing 21st in a time of 18:46.19.  Sophomore Pierce Overmyer was 28th in a time of 19:02.78 and sophomore Steven Carter ran 19:30.44 to place 43rd.  Sophomore Ethan Davis finished 55th in 19:49.01 and sophomore Cole Sotak placed 66th in 20:25.33.  Sophomore Nick Reedy ran 20:31.14 to place 68th, freshman Kegan Harrison placed 113th in 25:32.78, and senior Alexander Cutcher ran 25:43.91 to place 114th.

Boys 11th; Girls 25th at Tiffin Carnival

9/9/17 - The boys team finished 11th and the girls team 25th in races held at Hedges Boyer Park as part of the Tiffin Carnival.  The boys were 11th of 30 teams with 318 points in the Div. III-B race while the girls were 25th of 54 teams with 720 points in the girls Div. III division.  Senior Joey Emerine led the boys with a 42nd-place finish in a time of 19:01.1.  Junior Jimmy Grzegorczyk finished 53rd in 19:12.3 and sophomore Pierce Overmyer placed 64th in 19:23.6.  Other Woodmore runners included: sophomore Steven Carter (79th, 19:36.8), sophomore Cole Sotak (94th, 19:51.9), junior Ethan Davis (96th, 19:56.0), and sophomore Nick Reedy (162nd, 21:28.0).  Senior Alexander Cutcher ran in an open race and finished 188th in a time of 26:09.4.  On the girls side, freshman Ava Beam was the first Wildcat finisher in 20:26.7 to place 33rd.  Freshman Olivia Thatcher was 61st in a time of 21:06.4 and sophomore Faith Morris placed 96th in a time of 21:50.2.  Other runners for the Wildcats included: senior Mackenzie Nighswander (235th, 24:16.8), and sophomore Caitlyn Hammer (320th, 26:27.3).

9/2/17 - The girls cross country team finished seventh in the Columbus Grove Invitational with 161 points while the boys team was 16th with 407 points.  Freshman Ava Beam placed fourth individually running a time of 19:40.20.  The winning time was 19:00.29.  Freshman Olivia Thatcher placed seventh in 20:02.84 while sophomore Faith Morris was 21st in a time of 21:09.85.  Senior Mackenzie Nighswander was 86th in 24:32.29, sophomore Caitlyn Hammer was 121st in 26:29.01, and sophomore Madeline Shuler was 124th in 26:48.36.  On the boys side, senior Joey Emerine finished 56th in 18:20.08 to lead the Wildcats.  Sophomore Pierce Overmyer was 72nd in 18:40.83, sophomore Steven Carter was 86th in 19:02.27, and junior Jimmy Grzegorczyk was 87th in 19:02.39.  Junior Ethan Davis was 119th (20:00.80), sophomore Cole Sotak was 127th (20:15.55), sophomore Nick Reedy was 140th (20:56.40), and senior Alexander Cutcher was 233rd (35:19.90).
