Woodmore Wins St. Wendelin Invite

4/15/17 - The track and field team took the top spot in the St. Wendelin Invitational with 106.5 points to finish ahead of runner-up Upper Sandusky (84 pts.) and 12 other schools.  The Wildcats had five individual winners and two relay teams also picked up first-place points.  Junior Jeremy Schiavone took the top spot in the 100 with a time of 11.30, senior JT Atkin won the long jump with a best of 20-1 1/2, freshman Cole Sotak won the pole vault clearing 11-6, and senior Ben Wilt won the shot put (47-10) and discus (133-6).  Relay teams who won included the 400 quartet of freshman Daniel Giesler, junior Eli Rogers, senior Jacob Murray, and Schiavone in a time of 47.26 while the same foursome combined to win the 800 relay in a time of 1:37.94.  Freshman Paul Koenig recorded the only runner-up finish with a time of 4:52.94 in the 1600.  Other placers (top eight in each event score team points) for the Wildcats included: Rogers in the 200 (7th, 25.74), Schiavone in the 400 (4th, 55.65), sophomore Jimmy Grzegorczyk in the 800 (5th, 2:20.02) and pole vault (t7th 9-0), Atkin in the high jump (4th, 5-8), and Murray in the long jump (6th, 16-9 1/2).
