Wildcats Fourth in League Meet; Schiavone Named Running Athlete of Meet

5/13/17 - The Wildcats boys track and field team had two individual champions and one relay champion at the Northern Buckeye Conference meet hosted by Rossford to place fourth.  Eastwood won the team title with 221 points and were followed by Otsego (93 pts.), Elmwood (90), and Woodmore (86.5).  The individual champions for the Wildcats were senior Ben Wilt who won the discus event with a toss of 155-11 and senior Jeremy Schiavone in the 200 where his time of 22.62 was the best in the field.  Schiavone earned Athlete of the Meet in the running events after also placing second in the 100 with a time of 11.18, .01 off the the time of the league champion, and helping two relay teams to a first- and a second-place finish.  The 800 relay team of freshman Daniel Giesler, junior Eli Rogers, senior Jacob Murray and Schiavone were league champions running a time of 1:33.51.  The 400 relay team, comprised of the same four athletes as the 800 relay, was second in a time of 45.54.  Woodmore had two other second-place finishes as freshman Cole Sotak was second in the pole vault clearing 12-6 and freshman Paul Koenig was second in the 1600 running a time of 4:41.89.  Other placers (the top eight in each event score team points) included: Wilt in the shot put (5th, 46-10 1/2), Rogers in the high jump (t6th, 5-4), sophomore Jimmy Grzegorczyk in the pole vault (6th, 9-6), Murray in the 200 (5th, 23.92), Koenig in the 3200 (4th, 11:00.23), and freshman Pierce Overmyer in the 3200 (5th, 11:01.71).  The 3200 relay team of freshman Nick Reedy, sophomore Ethan Davis, freshman Jonathan Kigar, and Overmyer placed seventh in a time of 9:50.58.
