Wildcats Open Tourney Play with Overtime Win

The varsity boys soccer team (8-5-3) opened Div. III tournament play with a hard-fought 2-1 sectional win over Cardinal Stritch in overtime at Wildcat Stadium. Cardinal Stritch scored the only goal of the first half about midway through before Woodmore tied it on a goal by freshman Hayden Heidebrink with 20:19 left in the second half. Regulation time ended at 1-all forcing a sudden victory overtime period. In the extra period, junior Matt Duslak scored with 8:41 left to give the Wildcats the victory. Sophomore Kevin Paul made 12 saves in goal for WHS. The Wildcats move on to host Maumee Valley Country Day on Saturday at 1:15.
