Wildcats Open State Tournament With Victory

10/17/17 - The boys soccer team opened Div. III state tournament play with a 5-1 win at home over Northern Buckeye Conference foe Eastwood.  The Wildcats opened the scoring just 19 seconds into the game as senior Eli Rogers found the back of the net off a pass form junior Hayden Heidebrink.   A little less than four minutes later, Rogers made it 2-0 scoring with 35:44 left in the first half as junior Sam Barbee drew the assist.  About 10 minutes later, the Wildcats would put two more goals on the board in just over a minute.  Sophomore Paul Koenig scored with 25:14 left to stake the Wildcats to a 3-0 lead.  Heidebrink assisted on the goal.  Koenig came back 1:12 later, with 24:02 left in the half, to score off a pass from Rogers.  Junior Alec Garcia added a fifth goal with 19:56 left in the game off a pass from Rogers.  Eastwood scored with 8:28 left.  Senior Kevin Paul had seven saves in goal for the Wildcats.  The Wildcats advance to face 11th-seeded Old Fort Saturday (Oct. 21).  The Wildcats, the #4-seed, will host Old Fort at a time to be announced.
