Wildcats Earn Win in League Opener

12/9/16 - Varsity - The Wildcats built a 16-point lead with six minutes left and held on for a 74-67 win at home over Lake in the Northern Buckeye Conference opener for both teams.  Woodmore led 18-11 after one quarter and 40-26 at halftime.  Lake made it interesting cutting the 16-point disadvantage to as little as four points (69-65) with 43.6 seconds left.  But, Wildcat senior JT Atkin made three-of-four free throws in the final seconds to seal the win.  Atkin had 16 points, 13 in the second half, while game scoring honors went to senior Mitchell Miller who had 22 points, 16 of those in the first half.  Senior Mikey Blausey added 10 points.  Woodmore had 11 two-point field goals and 12 three-point field goals.  Junior Varsity - The Wildcats scored 29 points in the fourth quarter to turn a 35-32 deficit after three quarters into a 61-42 victory over Lake.  Sophomore Drew Burner led the fourth quarter surge with 14 of his game-high 27 points in the last stanza.  Sophomore Taityn Rollins had six of his 14 points in the fourth quarter.  The Wildcats were 20-of-26 at the stripe and held Lake to seven points in the fourth quarter. Freshman - The Wildcats outscored Lake, 15-4, in the final quarter to post a 38-36 win as Andrew Barringer cashed in a five-foot turnaround jumper in the lane with 1.6 seconds left for the game-winner.  Lake led 32-23 heading into the fourth quarter.  Barringer ended the game with 21 points while Paul Koenig added 10 points.
