Woodmore Hosts Fostoria

1/9/18 - Varsity - at Woodmore 78, Fostoria 52.  In a closely contested game through most of three quarters (Woodmore led 15-11 after one quarter and 37-31 at halftime), the Wildcats ran off 17 straight points to take a 60-41 lead early in the fourth quarter and put the game away.  Woodmore (7-2, 3-2 NBC) increased their edge to as many as 25 points in the fourth quarter, 74-49.  Junior Drew Burner led the Wildcats with 20 points while senior Mitchell Miller added 18 points. Burner and Miller combined to score nine of the Wildcat points in the 17-point run in the second half.  Juniors Hayden Heidebrink and Logan Mierzejewski both scored 8 points.  Woodmore scored at least 15 points in each of the four quarters, scoring 43 in the middle two quarters (22 in the second frame). Junior Varsity - at Woodmore 62, Fostoria 52. Woodmore opened up a 21-8 lead after one quarter and then saw Fostoria come back in the second quarter as the Wildcats led only 32-30 at halftime.  But, the Wildcats put the game away in the third  quarter outscoring the Redmen, 18-8, to take a 50-38 lead into the final stanza.  Sophomore Paul Koenig led the Wildcats with 20 points, 14 in the first half.  Junior Jimmy Grzegorczyk added 11 points and freshman Ethan McNair scored 10 points.  Freshman - Fostoria 48, at Woodmore 43.  In a game that was close all the way, Fostoria won the fourth quarter, 15-11, to claim the victory.  Woodmore led 20-16 after one quarter and the game was tied at 27 at halftime.  Fostoria led 33-32 after three quarters.  Zach Hunt and Isaac Betancourt both had nine points to lead the Wildcats.   DJ Melter added seven points.
