Wildcats Win Third of Season on the Road

12/9/17 - Varsity - Woodmore 63, at Gibsonburg 37.  The boys basketball team won its third game of the season building a 31-18 advantage at halftime and then holding Gibsonburg scoreless in the third quarter for the first seven minutes winning the stanza 21-4 to lead 52-22 after three quarters.  The Wildcats led 14-9 after one quarter and increased that advantage to 13 at halftime.  While the Wildcats were holding the Golden Bears scoreless early in the third quarter, Woodmore scored the first 14 points of the stanza to take a 45-18 lead with 3:20 left in the quarter to put the game away.  Drew Burner led the Wildcats with 21 points and seven rebounds while senior Mitchell Miller chipped in with 17 points and five steals.  Senior Kevin Paul scored four points and pulled down nine rebounds while junior Hayden Heidebrink had five points and eight rebounds. The Wildcats are 3-0 to start a season for the first time since the 1998-99 season.  Junior Varsity - Woodmore 56, at Gibsonburg 40.  Woodmore won the second quarter, 21-5, to build a 30-14 halftime edge and never looked back in the win.  Junior Jimmy Grzegorczyk led way with 16 points, hitting four three-pointers, while sophomore Paul Koenig added nine points and sophomore Cade Burrough added seven points.  Freshman - Woodmore 37, at Gibsonburg 26.  The Wildcats outscored Gibsonburg 18-8 in the second half to turn a close game (19-18 at halftime) into an 11-point victory.    DJ Melter had 11 points to lead Woodmore while Isaac Betancourt and Ethan McNair each had five points.
