Wildcats Take Three at Elmwood

2/3/17 - Varsity - The Wildcats (6-10, 4-6 NBC) held Elmwood to six points in the first half then kept at least a double-digit lead the whole second half even though Elmwood got within 10 points in the final stanza.  Woodmore captured a 60-45 win.  The Wildcats led 10-4 after one quarter and increased that advantage to 26-6 at halftime holding Elmwood to two points in the second quarter.  WHS still held a 20-point edge after three quarters (44-24), but Elmwood got within 10 points with 1:30 left (54-44), but that was as close as they would get.  Junior Mitchell Miller led the Wildcats with 17 points while senior DJ Wellons added 12 points.  Senior Derek Wank scored nine points, junior Kevin Paul eight points, and senior JT Atkin seven points.  Junior varsity - The Wildcats led all the way in posting a 52-36 victory.  Woodmore led 14-7 after one quarter, 29-18 at halftime, and 37-28 after three quarters.  Sophomore Hayden Heidebrink led the way with 17 points, sophomore Taityn Rollins had 14 points, and sophomore Brandon Blausey scored 10 points.  Freshman - The freshman trailed early in the fourth quarter, but tightened the defense down the stretch to earn a 26-23 win. In a close game all the way - Woodmore led 7-5 after one quarter and the game was tied at halftime (11-all) and after three quarters (18-all) - Paul Koenig led the Wildcats with eight points, Cade Burroughs had six points, and Andrew Barringer scored five points.
