Wildcats Close Regular Season With Win

2/24/17 - Varsity - The Wildcats (8-14, 6-8 NBC) took command of a close game late and went on to close out the regular season with a 60-51 win at Rossford in Northern Buckeye Conference play.  Woodmore led 11-8 after the first quarter and held a slim 21-20 edge at halftime.  The two teams started the fourth quarter tied at 36-all.  Rossford led by as much as six points (35-29 at 2:51) in the third quarter before the Wildcats closed the quarter on a 7-1 run to tie the score.  Junior Mitchell Miller hit one of his three three-pointers at the quarter buzzer to tie the game.  In the fourth, there were six lead changes early before Woodmore put the game away scoring eight straight points to lead 53-46 with 58.2 seconds left.  At one point, Woodmore outscored the Bulldogs, 15-2, to ensure the win.  Rossford led 46-45 with 3:56 left when WHS scored eight straight, five of those from junior Kevin Paul.  Woodmore scored its last eight points from the charity stripe making 8-of-10 from the foul line to end the game.  Miller led the Wildcats with 23 points, 16 in the second half, while senior Derek Wank added nine points, seven coming in the second half.  Seniors JT Atkin and Mikey Blausey each scored eight points.  Junior varsity - The junior varsity trailed at the end of each quarter, by a gradually bigger deficit, before dropping a 56-42 decision.  Sophomore Drew Burner led the Wildcats with 12 points while sophomore Brandon Blausey added seven points and sophomores Hayden Heidebrink and Taityn Rollins each scored six points.  Freshman - The Wildcats shut out the Bulldogs inthe fourth quarter to turn a 19-18 deficit entering the final stanza into a 28-19 victory.  Andrew Barringer scored 10 points while Javier Slaughter added nine points.  Paul Koenig scored seven points.
