Wildcats Lose Late-Inning Decision

The Wildcats scored first in their home game with Cardinal Stritch, but could not score any more and the visitors score a single tally in the top of the seventh inning which proved to be the difference.  The Wildcats jumped on top in the bottom of the second inning with its only two runs.  Junior Hunter Stevenson reached on an error with one out.  Junior Zach Matwiejczyk then doubled over the right fielders head and the Wildcats had runners on second and third with two outs.  Senior Austin Berkel then singled up the middle to plate both runs.  Cardinal Stritch scored single runs in the third (sacrifice fly) and the fifth (on a single, sacrifice and a double) innings.  They scored the deciding run in the seventh on a leadoff single, after a fielders choice and a sacrifice, with two outs, Cardinal Stritch got a single that drove in what proved to be the winning run.  Woodmore got a runner to second base with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't push across a tying run.  The Wildcats had runners on first and second with one out, and runners on second and third with two outs, in the fourth inning and didn't score.  They also had two runners aboard in both the fifth and sixth innings and couldn't push across a run.  Junior Donovan Reyes was 2-for-4 for the Wildcats while Berkel and Matwiejczyk were 2-for-3.  Sophomore Taityn Rollins starter for Woodmore and went 2.2 innings allowing three hits and one earned run.  Berkel finished the game allowing five hits and two earned runs.  Rollins had a pair of strikeouts and Berkel had three.
