Wildcats Get Back on Winning Track

The Wildcats scored all the runs they would need in the first inning in the win at home.  In the first, with one out, the Wildcats loaded the bases and the first run scored on an error.  Junior Taityn Rollins then drove home a run with a ground out to make it 2-1.  After a hit by pitch loaded the bases, senior Zach Matwiejczyk singled home a pair of runs.  A walk re-loaded the bases and senior Ian Cook tripled in three runs to make it 7-1.  Senior Hunter Stevenson then doubled in Cook and senior Mitchell Miller singled in Stevenson.  Matwiejczyk singled in the fourth inning to drive in the lone run of the inning.  Seven of the nine positions in the batting order had at least one hit as Stevenson, Miller and Matwiejczyk each had three hits.  Matwiejczyk and Cook each had three RBI.  Senior Derrick Berkel went the distance on the mound allowing just four hits and one earned run with 13 strikeouts.

The Wildcats won a shortened game for the second successive day as four players have multiple hits and five players had multiple RBI.  Freshman Hunter Allen went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and a pair of RBI.  Freshman Zane Lopez, freshman Zach Hunt, and sophomore Andrew Barringer each had two hits.  Freshman Brendan Bosh, sophomore Brett Sandwisch,  Hunt, and Barringer all had two RBI.  Allen had two doubles and a triple for his three hits while Barringer had a double and Sandwisch a triple.  Freshman Mike Brzeczek started and went two inings allowing one hits and striking out three.  Hunt threw the final three innings allowing five hits and three earned runs with three strikeouts.
