Junior varsity: Gibsonburg, 6-1
The varsity baseball team opened the season with a 2-2 tie in eight innings at Gibsonburg that was called because of darkness.  Woodmore senior starter Austin Berkel went 6.1 innings throwing 101 pitches and striking out four.  Senior Brandon Cowell came into the game to relieve Berkel with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning and got the Wildcats out of the inning without a run scoring retiring his first two batters on a strikeout and ground out.  Woodmore scored a single run in the third inning on an RBI single from senior DJ Wellons which drove in senior Derek Wank who had led off the inning with a single.  In the fourth inning, Wellons led off with a single and advanced on an error before scoring on an RBI single from junior Derrick Berkel.
