Wildcats Drop Home Game

The Wildcats scored two runs in the sixth inning attempting to tie their game at home with Delta, but stranded runners on second and third and then were retired in order in the seventh to suffer the non-league loss.  Senior Derrick Berkel singled in the first Woodmore run in the opening frame.  After Delta scored four runs, Woodmore scored one run in the fourth inning as they loaded the bases with two outs and senior Donovan Reyes was hit by a pitch to force in the run.  After Delta made it 5-2 with a run in the fifth inning, Woodmore got two in the sixth on a Reyes RBI single and a double down the right field line from Hunter Stevenson, but a ground out ended the inning and the threat.  Senior Owen Conner started and pitched 3.2 innings allowing four hits and two runs (both unearned) with five strikeouts.  Senior Kevin Paul pitched 2.1 innigns allowing three runs on three hits with two strikeouts and senior Mitchell Miller struck out one batter pitching a perfect seventh inning.  Reyes went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI while Stevenson was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Berkel was the same.

Woodmore scored in all five innings earning the win.  Freshmen Hunter Allen and Mike Brzeczek each had two hits and a pair of RBI while sophomore Jeremy Tingley and freshman DJ Melter each had two hits and an RBI.  Freshman Zach Hunt and Allen each scored three runs.  Sophomore Steven Carter started and pitched 3.2 innings allowing all three Delta hits and runs with four strikeouts.  Hunt pitched the final 1.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts.
