Varsity and JV Sweep Doubleheaders

Varsity - Game 1

The Wildcats took the first game of a home doubleheader with Port Clinton as seniors Derrick Berkel and Mitchell Miller combined on the one-hitter.  Berkel went four innings allowing the one hit and striking out eight while Miller tossed the final inning striking out one.  Senior Donovan Reyes had an RBI single in the first inning while Miller had an RBI on a ground out.  In the eight-run second inning, five different players had RBI before senior Kevin Paul knocked in the final three runs with a bases-loaded-clearing double.  Miller and Reyes had RBI singles in the fourth inning and sophomore Tyler Babka drove home a pair of runs with a single.Reyes and Miller both had two hits and three RBI while Babka also had a pair of hits and two RBI.

Varsity - 2nd Game

Woodmore gained the sweep with the second game win behind the pitching of seniors Hunter Stevenson and Kevin Paul.  Stevenson pitched three innings and Paul went the final two innings.  Both pitchers allowed two hits and had one strikeout.  Stevenson had a two-run double to key the three-run first inning.  Senior Zach Matwiejczyk tripled home the run in the second inning and senior Ian Cook tripled and scored the lone run in the fourth inning.  Stevenson had a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning and senior Donovan Reyes stroked a two-run double.  The other five Woodmore runs scored on PC errors.  Stevenson had three RBI and Reyes and Matwiejczyk each had a pair of hits and two RBI.

Junior Varsity - 1st Game

Freshman Mike Brzeczek pitched five innings allowing five hits and two earned run while striking out six.  Freshman Zach Hunt pitched the final inning striking out two.  Freshman DJ Melter had four hits and scored four runs in the game while sophomore Brett Sandwisch went 2-for-3 with four RBI and freshman Hunter Allen was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI.

Junior Varsity - 2nd Game

Freshman Hunter Allen went the distance on the mound allowing just three hits and one earned run.  He struck out nine.  Freshman Brendan Bosh had three hits and an RBI while DJ Melter had a pair of hits and an RBI.  Three other players had single RBI -  freshman Mike Brzeczek, Allen, and Freshman Zane Lopez.
