Varsity and JV Earn Wins

The Wildcats tied the game in the fifth inning then won the game in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single from senior Donovan Reyes.  The Wildcats scored a single run in the opening inning as with two outs senior Mitchell Miller singled and Reyes drove him home with a double.  Senior Owen Conner drove in the first run of the second inning with a single after senior Hunter Stevenson had walked and sophomore Tyler Babka was hit by a pitch and both advanced one base on a wild pitch.  Senior Ian Cook then grounded out to drive in the second run.  After Northwood took the lead in the third inning on two walks and three hits that led to four runs, Woodmore tied it in the fifth inning as senior Zach Matwiejczyk led off with a single, was advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Miller.  He also took third base on the sacrifice and scored on a sacrifice fly by Reyes.  In the seventh, Miller led off with a single to right field.  He advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored a lazy pop up down the right field line by Reyes that dropped allowing the winning run to score.  Reyes was 3-for-3 in the game with three RBI while Miller and Derrick Berkel each had two hits.  Conner started for the Wildcats and went four innings allowing four runs with five strikeouts.  Miller pitched the final three innings to get the win allowing two hits with one strikeout.

Sophomore Steven Carter tossed a complete-game two-hitter with five strikeouts to lead Woodmore to the win.  Carter retired the Rangers in order in four of the innings.  Freshmen DJ Melter and Hunter Allen each had RBI singles in the first inning.  Freshman Zach Hunt singled in the fourth inning with two outs and stole second and third base and scored on an infield single from Mike Brzeczek.  In the fifth inning, Woodmore scored on a passed ball and Allen stole home.  In the deciding sixth inning, Brzeczek drove in a run with an infield single, Melter tripled in a run, freshman Brendan Bosh had an RBI infield single, and sophomore Logan Wolph had a sacrifice fly.  Woodmore also had two runs score on passed balls and one run on an error.  Brzeczek and Melter each had two hits and a pair of RBI while Melter also scored three runs.
