Junior Varsity: Northwood, 11-10
The baseball team dropped a 10-8 decision on the road to Northwood in a non-league game.  The Wildcats took the early lead with a pair of one-run innings in the first two frames.  They increased their advantage to 8-1 after a six-run fifth inning.  But, the game unraveled in the bottom of the frame as Northwood scored nine runs to take the lead for good.  Woodmore took the lead early on the strength of a leadoff home run from senior Mason Beachler in the first inning and they notched a single run in the second frame on a single from junior Zach Matwiejczyk, a sacrifice and an RBI single from junior Hunter Stevenson.  In the six-run fifth, senior DJ Wellons had a sacrifice fly, junior Donovan Reyes a two-run double, Matwiejczyk an RBI single, junior Derrick Berkel an RBI triple and Stevenson had a sacrifice fly to give Woodmore an 8-1 edge.  In the bottom of the frame, Northwood had four of its six hits in the game, but also benefitted from two Woodmore errors, three walks, one passed ball, and one hit by pitch, to turn the game completely around.  Senior Brandon Cowell started and pitched four innings allowing one hit and one run.  Senior Jay Conner, junior Owen Conner, and senior JT Atkin all worked in the final two innings.  Atkin had three hits in the game while Matwiejczyk, D. Berkel, and Beachler each had two hits.  Woodmore had 19 total bases in the game to six for Northwood.
